St. Arnaud Pottery
To the Curious Traveller Passing Through St Arnaud,
Welcome to a little pocket of the world. A place where time slows down just enough for you to notice the beauty in the details.
As you stretch your legs or pause for a moment on your journey, I invite you to take a closer look at something quietly special (apart from the Insta perfect Lake) here in St Arnaud: St. Arnaud Pottery. Nestled among the gum trees and Lake Rotoiti history, I am a local potter that shapes mud and fire into vessels full of character. Each piece carrying the mark of human hands and the rhythm of this land.
Whether you're a collector, a curious browser, or someone who just enjoys beautiful things made with care, St Arnaud offers a glimpse into a tradition that’s as grounding as it is timeless. I welcome you to visit my studio, have a chat and discover works that hold both utility and soul.
You may be just passing through, but if you let it, a little piece of St Arnaud might travel on with you.
Safe travels,
Yasi, A Potter in St Arnaud
Here is my story
Hello, I’m Yasi. My pottery journey began in childhood, immersed in the tradition of moon jars used to store rice wines. My modern pottery experience has included workshops in Dublin, Ireland; Osaka, Japan; Delhi and Bangalore, India, Singapore, California; and Christchurch. After moving to New Zealand in 2015, I’ve been finding ways to infuse my heritage into my work, and I’ve finally embraced an aesthetic that harmonizes the old and new worlds. I also established my own studio and taught classes in Christchurch, though I sold it in November 2024 due to our move to St. Arnaud.
